Convenience Center closed

PORTALES — The city of Portales closed its Convenience Center from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday due to staffing issues and plans to close from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday for training.

The center is located at 1230 N. Avon Ave., and is intended for residents to dispose of large and small trash items. City residents can use the center free of charge if they bring in a recent city bill indicating garbage service. Commercial businesses, county residents or anybody else who doesn’t pay for garbage service is subject to fees based on cubic yardage and trash type.
