PORTALES — The city of Portales may see a gross receipts tax increase soon with the city council issuing a notice of intent to do so during its regular meeting this Tuesday,
The increase will need to be approved by a majority of the council when it comes to a vote and will not exceed a 0.6125 percent increase.
Other notable items from the 6:30 p.m. meeting at the Memorial Building include:
• The council may approve a list of poll workers for the election board and set the remuneration for the March 3 election.
• The council will consider a grant agreement to assist the aviation fuel farm construction project at the Portales Municipal Airport while working with the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
• The council may ratify amendments 1-4 and approve Amendment 5 to the contract for environmental compliance with CDM Smith.
• The council will look to approve a change order for the Johnson Hill West Tank Project.
