Police investigating early morning shooting

CLOVIS - Police are investigating an early morning shooting that left a 29-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds and life-threatening injuries.

The shooting victim was identified in an afternoon Clovis police release as Brandon Brooks. He was initially transported to Plains Regional Medical Center but later transferred to a Lubbock hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

An arrest warrant was obtained Saturday for Dyonjai Jones, 22, on charges of assault with intent to commit a violent felony and aggravated battery, the release said.

A release issued Saturday morning said officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of Adenmor Court in reference to shots fired. The call came at 5:04 a.m. Saturday.

"A 911 caller relayed they had heard multiple shots fired and could hear yelling and screaming," the morning release read. "Officers arrived on scene where they located a 29-year-old male who had received multiple gunshot wounds to his body."

The Major Crimes Unit has been activated to investigate, the morning release said.
