Freezing rain on the way

Eastern New Mexico can expect another short burst of wintry weather through Thursday night.

The National Weather Service is forecasting snow showers and freezing rain across the region with a 70 percent chance of precipitation.

Snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible on Wednesday and Thursday nights, NWS reports.

Snow showers and freezing rain are most likely to occur after 5 a.m. Thursday, and could continue through Thursday night.

The region’s high temperatures Thursday will be in the mid-30s, with light winds.

Friday’s high is expected to be 58, but with winds gusting to 35 mph. The weekend weather appears clear and sunny with highs near 50 and lows in the mid-20s.
