More than 30 area athletes get NMHSCA regional slots

Numerous area athletes found their way on all-region lists announced by the New Mexico High School Coaches Association in football, soccer and volleyball.

The Association has not announced its North-South All-Star teams, but has stated that only athletes named to regional teams this week will be eligible for selection on the North-South teams.

The North rosters will be pulled from the Northeast and Northwest regional selections, and the South roster will come from the Southeast and Southwest regional picks.

The creation of a regional selection round could fix an annual issues for the association by creating a reserve field for alternates. Withdrawals from the all-star games are routine, as the athletes either get injured or end up with a scheduling conflict.

Selection is limited to seniors.
