PORTALES — Led by junior goalkeeper Ross Dalton, the Eastern New Mexico University men’s soccer team put five players on All-Lone Star Conference squads announced by the league on Thursday.

ENMU finished the season 12-5-1, a school record for wins, and was 4-5-1 in conference matchups.

Dalton, from Liverpool, England, was the lone first-team selection for ENMU. He also earned LSC goalkeeper of the year honors while posting a program-record 10 wins in the net, including an ENMU record-tying five shutouts.

He also led the LSC with a .793 save percentage. His 1.15 goals-against average was third in the league and he was fourth in saves with 69, averaging 4.31 stops per match.

Also for the Greyhounds, junior midfielder Gabriel Peres was chosen to the All-LSC second team, while senior forward Julian Trapp, junior defender Robbie Jenkinson and sophomore forward Joe Conway earned third-team honors.

Peres, from Rio de Janeiro, had three goals in just 11 matches, but his 15 points were ninth-most in the LSC.

Trapp, from Selm, Germany, ranked eighth in the LSC with six goals and 12th with three assists, while his 15th points were ninth. He was credited with game-winning goals in victories over then-No. 17 Colorado Mesa and then-No. 13 Midwestern State.

Jenkinson, from Reddish, England, anchored the Hounds’ solid backline defense and played all 1,647 minutes during the season. He had two goals, both game-winners, and one assist.

Conway, from Newcastle, England, led ENMU with seven goals and 17 points, both good enough for seventh-best in the LSC. He also had a pair of game-winning tallies this season.

Conference champion St. Mary’s had eight selections, including four on the first team. The Rattlers also captured three league individual awards — Ollie Wright, player of the year and midfielder of the year, and Johnny Clifford, coach of the year.

Midwestern State had seven all-conference selections, one on the first team, while the Mustangs’ Adam Conway was selected newcomer of the year. Other individual awards went to Nadav Datner, Texas A&M International, freshman of the year and forward of the year, and Ivan Muanze-Bengono, Lubbock Christian, defensive player of the year.

Morgas named top newcomer — The Greyhound women’s soccer team had a pair of players honored with postseason awards, as sophomore Desiree Morgas was named newcomer of the year and junior Caitlyn Schmidt was named to the all-academic team.

Morgas is the first LSC newcomer of the year from ENMU since Fabienne Wilson in the 2013 season. Morgas, an El Paso native, had a team-high nine goals to finish fifth in the LSC.

Morgas, who also added four assists, was ENMU’s only selection on the all-conference team with a second-team slot.

Regular season champion Dallas Baptist had eight selections, six first-team, and the remaining four individual awards. Maggie Scales was player of the year and defensive player of the year, Hope Koym was goaltender of the year and Michelle Lenard won coaching honors.
