Counties to meet for canvass

Both the Curry County Commission and the Roosevelt County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday, with the primary purpose of the meeting a canvassing of votes from the Tuesday general election.

The Curry agenda, however, does have a few more items.

Roosevelt commissioners meet at the Roosevelt County Courthouse and Curry commissioners at the Curry County Administrative Complex.

Other items on the Curry agenda include:

• Creation of a fund to hold $72,000 representing the county’s 5% share of the Local Government Transportation Program Fund. The resolution to create the fund does not indicate what projects the $1.458 million would fund.

• A budget adjustment to remove $13,911 from the county’s office of substance abuse prevention to reflect grant dollars that became inaccessible after the end of the first quarter of the current fiscal year.

• A resolution to support the New Mexico Association of Counties on the issues of state appropriations for detention and emergency management services, higher distributions to the Law Enforcement Protection Fund, expanded behavioral health funding to detention center inmates and opposition of retirement contribution increases to be borne by local governments.

• Insulation work for the Melrose Road Barn in the amount of $5,050.06.
