Roosevelt board to receive wind project update

The Roosevelt County Board of Commissioners will receive an update on the Sagamore Wind Project during its regularly scheduled meeting this Tuesday.

Following the update, the board will consider a request for a transportation, road use and road maintenance agreement with Sagamore Wind Energy, LLC.

Members of the Sagamore Wind Team will be in attendance.

The $900 million Sagamore construction project will be ongoing over the next year and should finish by the end of 2020. When finished the 100,000 acre 240 turbine wind farm will be the largest in New Mexico.

The board will also be looking at a road repair agreement with PEDEVCO Corp. for South Roosevelt Road 34 from NM 206 to South Roosevelt Road Z.

There will be reports from the treasurer’s office, manager’s office, detention center, finance, planning, and road departments during the meeting.

Other items on the agenda for the 9 a.m. meeting at the Roosevelt County Courthouse include:

•The board will revisit the potential auction of run down windmills from the Roosevelt County Fairground.

•The board will discuss and request modifications to the Detention Center FY20 Pay Plan.

•The meeting will end with an executive session to discuss attorney-client privileged information pertaining to threatened or pending litigation, specifically the McFarlin vs. Roosevelt County, Hernandez vs. Roosevelt County, Natural Chem Holdings, National Prescription Opiate Litigation, Roosevelt County vs. Manuel Perez, and NMTRD Litigation. Attorney-client privileged information relating to pending or threatened litigation and/or limited personnel matters will also be discussed.
