Clovis soccer teams set to close out regular season

CLOVIS — It was a mixed bag for the Clovis High soccer teams on Saturday, with 1-0 scores deciding each team’s game.

In the girls contest, played at Hobbs High School, the Lady Wildcats finished their regular-season road slate with a 1-0 overtime win, as junior Madison Lynch connected on the game’s only goal in the extra period.

Junior goalkeeper Hanna Nussbaumer posted the shutout, notching seven saves along the way, as the Lady ’Cats reached double-digit victories. They carried a 10-5-3 overall record, 2-1-2 in District 4-5A, into Tuesday night’s regular-season finale against visiting Roswell.

Meanwhile on Saturday, Clovis’ boys played their last game of the season at Leon Williams Stadium, but lost 1-0 on a second-half goal by senior Fabian Henderson, assisted by fellow senior Keaton Hartman.

Clovis (11-6-2, 1-4 district) will wrap its regular season at Roswell on Thursday, with game time slated for 6 p.m.
