Local agencies aid in multi-county warrant roundup

ALBUQUERQUE — The Ninth Judicial District Attorney’s Office and various local law enforcement agencies took part in an operation this week resulting in 23 arrests of alleged violent offenders with outstanding warrants in Curry, Roosevelt and Socorro counties.

According to a release from Attorney General Hector Balderas, Operation Steel Net took place Wednesday and Thursday as the result of months of intelligence gathering, analysis and coordination between district attorneys and law enforcement to track the individuals who were brought in on warrants.

One of those arrested was Delilah Kerby, 31, wanted in connection with the unlawful use of an ATM card belonging to an elderly woman outside a Clovis church last month.

Kerby is also charged with felony counts of identity theft, fraud and forgery.

Two other women accused in that case remained at large on Tuesday, according to Clovis police.

“I’m extremely excited the Ninth Judicial District Attorney’s Office was able to work in conjunction with the Attorney General’s Office and local law enforcement to help take some of Clovis' and Portales’ most violent offenders out of our community,” District Attorney Andrea Reeb said in the release. “It was an extremely successful operation and our community is safer because of these arrests.”

The operation comes from the Governor’s Task Force on Violent Crime, and was referred to as Steel Net’s first phase.

“We believe it is vital to collaborate with district attorneys and law enforcement throughout the State to pursue justice for New Mexicans,” Balderas said. “No community should be left behind when targeting violent crime.”

Participants included Reeb, Seventh Judicial District Attorney Clint Wellborn, Curry County Sheriff’s Office, Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office, Socorro County Sheriff’s Office, Region V Drug Task Force, Region IV Probation and Parole, Portales Police Department, and Clovis Police Department.
