Deceased person pulled from Clovis structure fire

CLOVIS — The Clovis Police Department is investigating a Sunday structure fire with one deceased person pulled from the residence.

The deceased was sent to The Office of the Medical Investigator in Albuquerque for an autopsy. The deceased’s identity was withheld until family is notified.

According to a release from CPD Chief Doug Ford:

• The Clovis police and fire departments were dispatched at 5:17 a.m. to a structure fire on the 800 block of Wallace Street. They arrived to find a residence engulfed in flames and a female subject who was brought out of the residence.

• Firefighters were informed another subject was inside the residence but unable to get out due to the severity of the fire. Once the fire was out, a deceased subject was located inside.

• Detectives from the CPD were called to investigate, along with investigators for the CFD and the state fire marshal’s office.

• The female was taken to Plains Regional Medical Center due to smoke inhalation.
