From left, my son Spencer, wife Shelly, me and son Austin last summer at our ranch in Clovis.

My name is Layne Norris. I am the owner of Norris Electric. I am proudly married to Shelly Norris, my best friend, for almost 34 years and the proud dad to Austin and Spencer Norris. I am the son of the best parents, Bob and Barbara Norris.

What would you do if you won $1 million?

I would give it to works that further the cause of Christ. Also important, since it was won and not earned, it would not be mine to keep.

What is your most prized possession?

The many freedoms that I enjoy as an American.

How did you meet your spouse?

The first time I met Shelly was when I was walking in the breezeway at Clovis High School when I was a senior.

Tell us about a time you cried.

I cried at 9/11 and at the death of my best friend, Rocky Horton.

What's your idea of a perfect day?

A day with no phone calls, a beautiful view, surrounded by my family. Sundays, above all, are usually as close to a perfect day as you can get.

If you could have a super power, what would it be and why?

The power to end needless suffering.

What are you reading?

The Bible and "American Sniper," the autobiography of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.

What do you collect?

Memories, antique relics, guns, and rattlesnake rattles. My wife disapproves of the rattlesnake rattles.

How would you like to be remembered?

As someone who loved and tried and gave it their "all" every minute of every day and provided an example of this to my sons.

Who is invited to your fantasy dinner party? And why?

Donald Trump. He loves the country and he wants a lot of things for this country that I want.

If money were no object, what would you do to make eastern New Mexico a better place?

I would divert flood waters from the Mississippi River to eastern New Mexico, providing the unemployed with meaningful work.

What's an accomplishment you're proud of?

My marriage to Shelly and my two sons, Austin and Spencer.

What would you like for your last meal?

Porcupine meatballs made by my mom Barbara and salmon patties made by my wife Shelly.

What's the best gift you've ever received?

The gift of forgiveness, given by Jesus.

What do you hope your life will be like in 10 years?

I pray that my loved ones and myself would be healthy and that our country would be more godly and united.

Tell us about your favorite hobby.

Creating and building something from nothing, traveling, hunting, spending time ranching.

What is a place you never visited and wish to travel to?

The holy lands.
