Portales to test emergency sirens

PORTALES — Residents of Portales and Roosevelt County should expect to hear emergency sirens today at noon, but the only event it marks is a testing of the sirens.

All of the sirens are set to go off at the same time, and are supposed to last for three minutes. A siren that goes beyond that will need to be manually shut off, but the city plans to have an employee at each siren in case such action is needed.
