Thousands lose power, train goes down during 'historic' storm

A Union Pacific train derailed Wednesday morning while going over the Canadian River bridge near Logan. Logan fire officials said the mishap created no injuries but prompted a closure of Highway 469 for more than an hour. State police said high winds, with gusts measuring 69 mph at the time, were a contributing factor.

The windy season is upon us.

Sustained 50-mph winds, with gusts near 80 mph, blew across the region on Wednesday, creating widespread outages and property damage.
