Curry to consider road closure

CLOVIS — The Curry County Commission is expected to consider the closure of 2.28 miles of Curry Road 6 during Tuesday’s meeting.

Road viewers who met Wednesday recommended the road be closed and a yield sign be placed at the intersection of CR 5 and CR 6.

Other items on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting, scheduled for 9 a.m. in the commission chamber at the Curry County Administrative Complex, 417 Gidding, include:

• The commission will consider a $73,824 loan to the Pleasant Hill Fire Department to purchase fire apparatus.

• The commission will consider an agreement with Eastern New Mexico Gas Company, Inc., which calls for the company to pay the county $1,000 annually for hosting a regulator station in the county right-of-way on Curry Road 5.

• The commission will hear an overview of potential Community Development Block Grant projects and select one for an application.

• The commission will hear monthly reports regarding the detention center, road department and events center.
