Roosevelt County considers becoming 'Second Amendment Sanctuary County'

• Portales Public Works Water Department officials are working to repair a "sudden unplanned water break in the area of Western Skies, Territorial Estates and Alta Terra," according to a city of Portales news release. Officials expected service to be restored Tuesday night.

• Roosevelt County has called a special business meeting for 1 p.m. Friday at the county courthouse to consider a resolution "In Support of the Second Amendment of the US Constitution and Declaring Roosevelt County to be a Second Amendment Sanctuary County."

• Clovis' Payless ShoeSource, along with all of Payless' 2,100 stores in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, will be closing in the next few months. A company news release reported the stores will begin closing at the end of March, though most will remain open until May.

• Broadview Sen. Pat Woods was among two lawmakers who voted against a bill that would allow the use of medical cannabis at New Mexico public schools. The state Senate approved the measure, 35-2, on Monday. Woods told the Albuquerque Journal that he opposed the measure because it did not appropriate money for storing the medicine.
