Plant closed for celebration

CLOVIS — The Cummins Natural Gas Engines plant in Clovis will be closed from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today as the local branch celebrates the company’s 100-year anniversary, according to Plant Manager Scott Odom.

“I just think it’s a good time for us to kind of reflect back, look at the corporation we’re a part of and how each one of us plays a part in that and push that legacy forward,” Odom said.

Odom said today’s celebration at Red Arrow Bingo will include a look back at how the company was founded and what role the Clovis branch has played during Cummins’ 100 years in business.

Odom told The News on Tuesday that Cummins has been located in Clovis since 1967 and employs 47 people at the local plant.
