PORTALES — The Portales City Council will consider just one item at its meeting on Tuesday, a notice of intent to adopt changes to the Local Economic Development Act (LEDA).
City Manager Sammy Standefer said the ordinance is meant to bring the city into alignment with changes to state law that allow for LEDA funds to be put toward projects in arts and cultural districts, as well as retail businesses.
Standefer said ultimately a special election could be called to determine how the city’s LEDA funds will be used.
