Our people: A little bit of everything

My name is Audra Brown. I'm a pathological polymath with a penchant for creative and competitive pursuits. I'm fond of alliteration and my most primary interest is to always be learning something new. I've got a few degrees, an undocumented education that is quite broad, and I love to live life like it's adventure, not just a statistical report.

What is your most prized possession?

A 4,500 pound NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) Magnet that I got at an auction.

What is your theme song?

An impossible question, but I'm gonna go with "I Could Kick Your Ass" by Justin Moore.

If you could have a super power, what would it be and why?

I'd go with telekinesis, because the power to manipulate matter and energy with a thought pretty much makes anything possible. It's the superpower that includes most, if not all, other powers too.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

As I recall, some of my early aspirations were to be a rock singer, an inventor, and a bareback-riding, bow-wielding, cowboy opponent.

What does your garden grow?

Hot peppers, tomatoes, and seasoning herbs.

What are you reading?

I'm always reading a few things. These days, my favorite book is the internet. But I just started the newest book in the Sandman Slim series for my fiction fix.

What do you collect?

Hobbies, stories, and adventures.

Who is invited to your fantasy dinner party? And why?

I'd have Leanardo Da Vinci, Ben Franklin, Teddy Roosevelt, Tesla, Machiavelli, and Aristotle at the top of my list. I'd bring my Dad too. I can just imagine the ideas and the adventures that we'd tell and discuss together for a very long time. I'd love to have the chance to rub brains with some of my favorite minds of all time.

Do you have a celebrity crush?

Only if you count Elenore, the Shelby Mustang.

Favorite quote?

"Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has no heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains." - Winston Churchill

What's an accomplishment you're proud of?

I'm quite honored to have been able to compete in both shooting and martial arts on behalf of my country at World Championship competitions in various foreign countries---and bring home medals each time. I'm also quite proud of having some books published (and many more to come).

Who would play you if someone made a movie about your life?

Well, I do a little acting, so my preference would have to be me. Otherwise ... I'm gonna go with Michelle Rodriguez.

What would you like for your last meal?

An Argentine steak - medium rare, sautéed mushrooms, fried okra and squash, fresh salsa, iced-tea, and a finale of fine espresso and a glass of good, smoky scotch.

Tell us about your favorite hobby.

That's both very simple, and yet completely impossible. My one and only hobby is collecting hobbies. Highlights of my collection include taekwondo, competitive 3-gun, painting, writing, reading, leather-smithing, muscle cars, and going to auctions. Newer additions of note are stand-up comedy and strategic cards games.

Tell us about a time you cried.

When I got to stand on top of the podium at the Taekwondo World Championships as my name was announced as the "World Champion of Destruction" while the National Anthem played over the loudspeakers. I'll never forget that moment.
