County meetings set to consider new tax rates

CLOVIS — The Curry County Commission will hold a special meeting on Friday to vote on imposing the 2018 property tax rates.

Curry County Assessor Candace Morrison told The News on Wednesday that for the most part, the tax rates remained flat compared to the previous year, with an overall increase less than 1 percent, and some areas actually saw a slight decrease in rates.

Owners of a $200,000 home inside the city or village limits would see increases of about $5.40 in Clovis, $2.47 in Texico, $10.60 in Melrose and $38.60 in Grady.

Curry’s commission meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Friday in the commission chambers at the administrative complex, 417 Gidding.

The Roosevelt County Commission will also hold a special meeting to address property tax rates, scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday in the commission chambers at the Roosevelt County Courthouse.
