PORTALES — Those parking barriers will get you.
Roosevelt County Sheriff Malin Parker experienced as much Aug. 27 when he hit one in his duty vehicle while pulling out of a parking spot across from a hardware store in Portales.
Parker said he was alone in the car and wasn’t on his phone, or texting — he just didn’t see the barrier that afternoon and “lightly bent” his bumper on impact, damage amounting to less than $500.
Portales police are working on a report of the incident, but officials said Tuesday it was not yet available for release.
