Roosevelt approves planning document

PORTALES — The Roosevelt County Commission unanimously approved a planning document and a change to the county’s organizational chart during a quick 10-minute meeting on Tuesday.

The fiscal year 2020-2024 Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan approved by the commission includes upgraded road equipment, road improvements, Americans with Disabilities Act transition and improvements at the Roosevelt County Fairgrounds and new equipment at the detention center as the top priorities for 2020.

The change to the county’s organizational chart involved shifting an appraiser’s associates position that has been vacant for several months and turning it into a full-time floating position under County Manager Amber Hamilton’s office, which Hamilton said would give the county more flexibility.

Commissioners Matthew Hunton and Gene Creighton were not present.
