Fire department funding up for Pleasant Hill area

August 1, 2018

Pleasant Hill-area residents may see their insurance premiums drop and the local fire department is about to receive more money for fighting fires, according to Curry County officials.

After a recent Insurance Services Office review, the Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Department’s rating has improved two points — from Class 9 to Class 7 — because of an improved “structural fire suppression delivery system,” according to Fire and Safety Director David Kube.

That means the fire department will see a $16,443 annual increase in funding. And residents within a five-mile radius of the fire station should see their insurance premiums drop as much as 10 to 20 percent in the next year, Kube said.

The Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Department has been in operation since 1982 and has 11 volunteers.
