Man shot in head while 'playing' with gun

CLOVIS — A 23-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries early Thursday after being shot in the head in Clovis.

A police news release said the man and a friend were "playing with a firearm" and consuming alcohol when the shooting occurred.

According to the release:

Police at 2:19 a.m. Thursday were dispatched to a residence at Paseo Village for a call of a subject injured by gunfire. The 911 caller stated he had a friend “playing” with a firearm. The caller stated they had been consuming alcoholic beverages and his “friend” had been shot in the head.

The injured man was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center, then transported to a Lubbock-area hospital.
