Curry seeking public input on road projects

CLOVIS — Curry County wants to upgrade its infrastructure and needs your help.

The county is seeking input from members of the public regarding potential road projects as its road committee gets ready to work on a new 5-year road and construction plan.

Curry County Manager Lance Pyle said the committee will meet towards the end of July and at that time will review all public input before presenting a new road plan to the Curry County Commission in August.

Pyle said residents are welcome to provide any input regarding needed road improvements or suggestions on road priorities by emailing him at [email protected], dropping off letters at the administrative complex, 417 Gidding St., or by calling 575-763-6016.

Pyle said suggestions received so far include a request to upgrade some roads to chip seal in Curry County Commission District 4, the rural Melrose area.

“We really would like to hear from the residents; they’re the ones that live out in the county and they’re the ones that use the roads,” Pyle said.

The current road plan can be accessed on the county’s website http://www.currycounty.org/.

Pyle said the road plan is used for capital outlay and other funding requests as well as determining which county roads receive upgrades.
