Bond denied for dairy homicide suspect

The Texico dairy employee charged with shooting a coworker dead June 14 was denied bond last week following a state motion for pretrial detention, according to a news release Wednesday from District Attorney Andrea Reeb.

Judge Matthew Chandler issued the order on the grounds that Jose Flores-Espana, 32, was a “flight risk” with “potential of committing a violent crime against another person,” said the release.

Defense attorney Gary Mitchell entered Tuesday his appearance in the case representing Flores-Espana and filed a motion to determine competency.
