Local couple injured in accident

CLOVIS — A local couple was seriously injured and a Las Vegas, Nevada, man arrested early Saturday morning following a traffic accident on U.S. 60/84.

Officials said Michael Anthony Lucero, 41, of Melrose, and Elizabeth Lucero, 45, of Clovis, were hospitalized in Lubbock after their Harley Davidson motorcycle collided with a Ford Ranger pickup driven by Willie Warren, 72.

The Luceros were airlifted to a Lubbock hospital. A Curry County Sheriff’s Office news release said Michael Lucero suffered serious injuries while Elizabeth Lucero suffered “life-threatening injuries.”

No update was available Monday night.

Warren was not injured, according to the release. He was in the Clovis jail on Monday facing multiple charges, including DWI, failure to maintain traffic lane and great bodily harm by vehicle.

Records showed no bond information for Warren.
