Dodd, Connor named LSC scholar athletes

RICHARDSON, Texas — Senior pitcher Keenan Dodd and senior post Mikaehla Connor were recognized Tuesday as Lone Star Conference scholar-athlete award winners, according to a release from the league office.

A total of 21 students were recognized for the awards — a male and female athlete for each of the LSC's 11 member schools, with the exception of Texas Woman's University.

Those chosen are recognized for their accomplishments in athletics, scholarship and leadership. To be eligible, student-athletes must be a member of the school's most recent graduating class and have played at least two years in their respective sport.

Dodd was one of four scholar athletes who played baseball, which tied softball for the highest number of award recipients. Connor was one of three basketball recipients. Football and tennis each had three award recipients, track and field two and golf one.

Connor, who hails from Dallas, is one of 10 recipients from Texas, while the Albuquerque-raised Dodd was the only award recipient from New Mexico.
