Accused child sex offender arrested

PORTALES — An accused child sex offender was arrested Friday after investigators located a 13-year old Portales girl who had been reported missing early in the week, according to a news release from the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office.

Jimmy Kit Fields, 37, of Littlefield, is charged with four counts each of criminal sexual penetration, child solicitation by electronic device and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, as well as one count of supplying alcohol to a minor, said the release.

Fields remained Friday afternoon without bond in the Lamb County Detention Center pending extradition to Roosevelt County, according to jail staff.

The investigation began Tuesday, said the release, and “after locating the juvenile it was discovered that she was with Fields and that he had driven from Littlefield, Texas, on this occasion and three times prior to meet her.”

Investigators learned through testimony and electronic evidence “that Fields brought her alcohol and engaged in sexual intercourse with her on each occasion,” and that he “engaged in graphic sexual talk with the minor on her phone on several occasions.”

Roosevelt County Sheriff Malin Parker said he believed the girl was uninjured and that Fields was arrested Friday morning in Littlefield.

“The investigation is ongoing and they are working on tying everything up right now,” Parker said.

Information on any attorney representing Fields was not immediately available Friday.
