Our People: Best gifts are family, friends

Cindy Waters was born and raised in Clovis. Her father is the late Wiley Snyder and her mother is Lois Snyder, of Clovis. She has one younger sister, Susan Ogilvie.

Waters grew up in a close knit family and she enjoyed outdoor activity and the arts early on. She attended Highland Elementary school and Marshall Middle school. She graduated from Clovis High school in 1976.

Her maternal grandmother was her 4-H leader. She participated in 4-H for as long as 10 years alongside her Blackburn cousins. She also took piano lessons as a young girl for many years from Doris Tankersley, of Clovis.

Cindy Waters married the late Rick Waters on July 26, 2001. The couple have 5 children and 12 grandchildren. They welcomed their 12th grandchild one week before her husband passed away in October 2017.

Waters has worked in her family dry cleaning business for 34 of the 35 years the company has been in service. Waters stepped into ownership of the family business in 2012 when her father passed away.

She is a proud member of the Clovis Chamber of Commerce. When she's not working she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.

What' your favorite TV show, past and present?

Gomer Pyle Andy Griffin, "The Brady Bunch" and currently I like to watch "Chicago P.D."

What's the best gift you've ever been given?

I think the greatest gift I've been given is the unconditional love I have with my family and close friends. That to me means more than the material ones.

What's so great about your favorite sport?

I love football. I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan.

What's your favorite taste? Smell?

My favorite taste is Mexican food and my favorite smell is freshly mowed grass or a fresh cut cornfield. Living in the country makes you appreciate those scents. But I also enjoy Sweet Pea from Bath and Body Works.

What is your favorite quote?

It's my favorite Bible verse, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." - Philippians 4:13

How would you describe yourself in one word?

Happy.

If you could master one instrument, what would it be?

I play the piano. I took lessons for 12 years but I always thought it would be neat to play the violin or fiddle thanks to my grandmother Blackburn.

Tell us about your favorite place to travel?

Sedona, Arizona. My son lived there for seven years. He did real estate out there and the scenery is just so beautiful and peaceful. I think I've gone to all of the golf courses out there and they're just beautiful.
