Clovis' Montez Wright takes off in Friday's Class 6A long jump competition at the University of New Mexico. Wright jumped 20-2 1/4, good for eighth overall.
ALBUQUERQUE — After the first day of the Class 4A-6A state track meets, both the Clovis and Portales boys are in the early trophy hunt, and a pair of pole vaulters are state champions.
