Man arrested for firing on vehicle
CLOVIS — A man was arrested Friday afternoon after allegedly shooting four rounds into a car and injuring a woman in the driver seat early that morning, according to a news release from Clovis Police Department.
Michael Russell, 29, was charged with felony aggravated battery (deadly weapon), shooting at or from a motor vehicle and retaining stolen property in connection with the incident.
The alleged victim, Cji Adkins, told police she was in the driver side of a friend's vehicle at the intersection of Cesar Chavez Drive and Rio Street when Russell pulled up next to her and fired multiple rounds into the door.
"Bullets came through the door and one had gone into her left leg," said the release, noting Adkins, 34, was treated and released that day at a local hospital for the non-life threatening wound.
Detectives later "located four .22 caliber casings in the roadway," near the intersection, and found a .22 caliber rifle along with a stolen firearm inside his residence upon completing a search warrant.
Russell was booked into the Curry County Adult Detention center just after noon Friday, where he remained that evening without bond, according to jail records.

County seeks survey assistance
Curry County is requesting assistance from residents with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) surveys, according to a press release from Curry County Manager Lance Pyle.
At the April 3 Curry County Commission meeting, the board voted to apply for a CDBG grant for road improvements to Country Road 11 from CR N to State Road 311.
To qualify for the grant, the county needs to conduct anonymous door-to-door surveys at the houses along CR 11 and Jill, Ute, Lasso and Vanajo Streets to show the project meets the CDBG requirements.
The county asks that residents take the time to complete the survey to ensure the project receives grant funding.
