Bustos, Parker triumph

ENMU's Adame, Cabeldue set new school records

CANYON, Texas — Two Greyhound track and field athletes notched first-place performances at Saturday’s West Texas A & M Classic, while two others also set program records. Marcus Parker and Danee Bustos were both winners for ENMU on Saturday. Hannah Cabledue (pole vault) and Adilene Adame (hammer throw) set school records with their performances.

Parker finished the 200 meter dash with a time of 20.63 seconds, while Bustos completed the women's 200 meter dash with a time of 24.15 seconds. Neither time, however, is eligible for NCAA qualification or ENMU records, due to excessively windy conditions.

Cabledue registered a school-record height of 10-6 in the women's pole vault to place fourth. Adame's school-record throw 160-7 in the hammer, meanwhile, earned her a sixth-place finish in the event.

In all, the Greyhounds registered 15 top-five finishes and 22 top-ten performances for the weekend. The performances led both ENMU teams to sixth-place finishes in the team standings. The Classic featured 16 women's teams and 14 men's teams.

Eastern will return to action next Saturday for the New Mexico Junior College Ross Black Invitational in Hobbs.
