Spring cleaning bears pink fruit

Spring cleaning can be fun, especially when you find a few treasures while sorting through old shoes. It's almost like being reintroduced to your younger self when you were developing your sense of style, like sorting through old pictures of times you’ve forgotten but better with shoes because you get to experience them again.

I'd forgotten how much I loved pink until I pulled out at least three pairs of randomly different shoes from the old crates I tossed aside years ago. The first pair are a pointed toe flat slide-on with a furry strap buckle across the toe. I purchased them when I was 19 or 20 and worked my first job in a clothing store. These shoes scream 'fashionista' and even today aren't meant to be average.

Aside from the bubble gum pink color they are, these shoes exemplify how you should step out of your comfort zone and try something new with your style. Being predictable is boring. Sorting through my old shoes also reminded me that there are rules to wearing heels that I often see violated.

The second pair I found were also a slide but with a 2-3 inch heel and rubber sole. They're pointed toe as well, which was trending at the time I purchased them in the early 2000s, even though I think a pointed toe is timeless. It took me a few years to become more cognizant that every pump is designed for a purpose. You can't just wear any heel anywhere. This pair is great for lunch with girlfriends or some other casual social setting. Anything casually worn over 3 inches is pushing it. Its all in the details and the hour.

The final pair of pink pumps I warmly accepted back into my closet are a strappy between-the-toe sport high heel. A track rubber sole is what makes them sporty and great for daywear.
