Clovis baseball suffers first setback of season

HOBBS — Colin Turner went 3-for-3, and Artesia High took advantage of early miscues for a 5-0 lead after two innings and an eventual 6-4 triumph over Clovis in the second day of the Hobbs Round Robin baseball tournament.

“They put the ball in play,” Clovis coach Richard Cruce said, “and basically we made some mistakes that extended innings for them. They took advantage.”

Clovis (3-1) will face Hobbs today at 1 p.m. to close out the three-day affair. Cruce said Colson Faircloth will be the likely starter for the Wildcats.
