RICHARDSON, Texas — Eastern New Mexico University received four of the Lone Star Conference's 22 selections for the indoor track and field all-academic team, according to a release from the conference office.

Honored for ENMU were Ezra Bagwell, Lorenzo Juarez, Coley Norcross and Danee Bustos. The four selections were the most for any ENMU track team, indoor or outdoor, since the 2008 outdoor season.

Bagwell received LSC Academic honors last year during the indoor and outdoor segments, while Norcross made LSC All-Academic during the outdoor season. Bagwell is one of five repeat selections.

Bagwell, an electric engineering major with a minor in business, placed 10th in the 600-meter at University of New Mexico's Don Kirby Invitational with a time of 1:29.59. Bagwell also was ninth in the pole vault at Texas Tech.

Bustos, a communicative disorders major, took 16th in the 400 at the Texas Tech Open with a time of 57.90, and led the 4x400 relay team to a fifth-place finish. Bustos also took 10th in the high jump at the Red & Black Open.

Norcross, an elementary education/special education major, took third place in the 5,000-meter at the Texas Tech Open, with a time of 19:30.86. Norcross also placed sixth at the Red & Black Open in the 3,000-meter.

To be considered for selection, athletes must carry a 3.3 grade point average and have attained at least sophomore status. Selections from the eligible pool are made by the LSC's sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement.

The male and female academic athletes of the year, respectively, were Chevy Robertson and Kami Norton of Angelo State.

The conference is holding its championships Saturday and Sunday at Texas Tech.
