Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Reporter's notebook: Chili dinner

Ready your appetites, because the Portales Kiwanis Club doesn’t want any empty stomachs on Friday.

That’s when the organization’s 55th annual chili supper is taking place.

From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, adults can eat for $8 and children under 12 can eat for $4.

The proceeds will go toward Kiwanis programs that provide food, clothing, scholarships, and even track and swim meets for area children, according to member Anthony Schroeder.

“All of the funds that we make from the dinner go to the different activities and programs that we sponsor,” he said.
