BOYS

District 2-6A tournament first round

Clovis (9-16, 1-9) at La Cueva (15-9, 6-4), La Cueva High School, Albuquerque, 6:30 p.m.

Last time out: Feb. 17. Shouldn’t be too hard to remember this one because it was only three days ago.

It was Clovis’ last home game, last regular-season District 2-6A game. The Wildcats came in having not won one of either yet in 2018, but took care of both by rallying from an early deficit to blast the Bears 77-54 at Rock Staubus Gymnasium.

Last meeting: Ditto above.

The lowdown: The Wildcats proved Saturday night that they can not only beat a district opponent, but play well against one, beat one soundly.

They are heading up to La Cueva tonight with little to lose. It would seem that more pressure is on the Bears, who are a 15-win team at home. The Wildcats may feel more pressure if they are able to advance tonight and keep on advancing.
