Greyhound women bounce back to top Texas Woman's

February 9, 2018

DENTON, Texas — Bouncing back nicely from Tuesday's frustrating loss against previously winless Western New Mexico, the Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team earned a road win over Texas Woman's, 64-58, Thursday night.

Eastern had to hang on, though, after leading by as many as 16 in the fourth quarter. Texas Woman's chipped and chipped away before the Greyhounds finally prevailed, improving to 14-9 overall, 10-6 in the ever-important Lone Star Conference standings.

Eastern led after every quarter, going up 13-8 after one, 23-20 at halftime and 40-32 after the third.

Brandi Gomez led a balanced Eastern scoring attack with 12 points.

Shelby Jones added 10 points for the Hounds, followed by Mikaehla Connor with nine, and Daeshi McCants and Jasmine Hotchkins with seven each.

Eastern will host Midwestern State next Thursday, tipping off at 5:30 p.m.
