Girls basketball roundup: Lady 'Cats rip Goddard

ROSWELL — Clovis’ girls basketball team rolled in the second half and went on to put away Goddard 58-33 on Tuesday at Goddard High School.

The Lady Wildcats (9-6) led 23-18 at halftime, but outscored the Lady Rockets 35-15 in the second half.

“Really, the whole second half we got after them,” Clovis head coach Jeff Reed said. “We really put the press on them and they had a lot of turnovers. (Clovis had) a lot of transition points off it. It really helped us out in this game.”

So did Teya Morris’ game-high 21 points and Madison Tolbert’s 20.

“If Teya Morris and Madison Tolbet can score like they did in this game that really helps us out,” Reed said.

Reed’s team will carry a 9-6 record into Friday night’s game at Cleveland in Rio Rancho, with tipoff scheduled for roughly 6:30 p.m. after the junior varsity game.
