Empty stocking fund - Dec. 2

Today’s family in need: With an injured father, this family can’t afford Christmas.

After being hurt at his job, the father won’t be able to find work until the beginning of 2018.

While the Salvation Army was able to help with the family’s immediate needs, “there will be nothing for Christmas,” according to Salvation Army Lt. Kelly Berggren.

“They could certainly use a bit of help this Christmas season,” he said.

About the Empty Stocking Fund: The fund is a joint venture of the Salvation Army and The Eastern New Mexico News. The fund helps low-income families with toys, food and clothing.

How to help: The Eastern New Mexico News is accepting Empty Stocking Fund donations at its newspaper offices in Clovis (521 Pile St. or P.O. Box 1689, Clovis 88101) and Portales (101 E. First St. or P.O. Box 848, Portales 88130).

Envelopes should be clearly marked “Empty Stocking Fund.” Checks must be payable to The Salvation Army. Contributions will be forwarded to The Salvation Army.
