Last time out: The Falcons topped St. Mary’s 74-65 for their second-straight win. The Greyhounds dropped their second-straight in the St. Edward’s Thanksgiving Classic, falling to Dallas Baptist 83-69.

Last meeting: The Falcons, ranked No. 18 in Division II, swept the season series last year, topping the Greyhounds 94-79 at home and 85-67 at Greyhound Arena.

Notes: This weekend marks the second and third time this season the Greyhounds have a ranked opponent on the schedule. Eastern holds a 73-72 win over then-16th-ranked Fort Lewis and hosts No. 8 West Texas A&M on Saturday. Thursday’s game is one of four on the LSC men’s schedule tonight, along with Cameron hosting Texas A&M-Commerce, Midwestern State hosting Tarleton State and Western New Mexico hosting West Texas A&M. All eight teams are playing their LSC opener. Texas A&M-Kingsville defeated Angelo State 76-69 Tuesday night in the LSC season opener. ... The Falcons, who won the LSC in their first season aboard, are the preseason pick to do it again. The Falcons are second in the conference at 91 points per game, but ninth in defense with 84 allowed per night. ... Permian Basin has two of the conference’s top six scorers in Daishon Francis (20.7 ppg, third) and James McPherson (17.8 ppg, sixth). Eastern’s Lamarquis Thompson, 14th with 15 points per game, is the only Greyhound in the LSC’s top 20. In their first six games, four different Greyhounds have led the team in scoring. ... Sammy Allen leads the Falcons and the LSC at 10.7 rebounds per game. Francis leads the league in steals and is also sixth in rebounding.

Women

Last time out: Both teams are coming off wins over the same team. The Falcons claimed their first victory, 70-64 Monday over Texas A&M International. The Greyhounds won their third-straight, 77-56 over the Dustdevils on Saturday.

Last meeting: The Greyhounds swept the season series with the Falcons last year, winning 63-61 in Odessa and 81-56 at home.

Notes: The game is one of five on the LSC women’s schedule tonight, along with Cameron hosting Texas A&M-Commerce, Midwestern State hosting Tarleton State, Western New Mexico hosting West Texas A&M and Angelo State visiting Texas Woman’s. Nine of the 10 teams are playing their LSC opener. Angelo State defeated Texas A&M-Kingsville 62-46 Tuesday. ... The Falcons are 10th in the 11-team LSC in scoring margin at minus-15.3 points per game. The Greyhounds are third in the LSC in that category, but at 3.2 points they’re a lot closer to the teams below them than they are to West Texas A&M (17.0) and Angelo State (13.5). ... Khali Pippins-Tyron leads the Falcons at 16 points per game, and she is the LSC’s No. 2 scorer behind Jamie Bonnarens of Cameron (16.4 ppg). The Greyhounds only have two double-figure scorers; senior guard Jasmine Hotchins is 19th in the LSC at 10.2 ppg, while senior forward Mikaehla Connor is 21st at 10.0 ppg. Eastern’s Dasia Johnson is fifth in the LSC at 3.4 assists per game. The Falcons do lead the LSC with 11.7 steals per game, and four of their players are in the league’s top 20.
