Learn how to make mandalas

Information on a technique called Quilting As-You-Go and making mandalas will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” on Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. and on Thursday at noon. (All times are Mountain.)

Shannon Wooton will demonstrate a technique called Quilting-As-You-Go, which is a great way to be creative and expressive even if you think you don’t have a lot of time and you want to complete a quilting project from start to finish. Wooton is the Extension Home Economist with the New Mexico Cooperative Extension Service in Roswell.

Deborah Pace is going to show how to create mandalas based on her newest book, which includes not only instructions and ideas, it has many designs you can print, copy and trace for making your own mandala. She’ll also show using different paper types to draw on. She’s from Riverside, California.

Information on caring for floral arrangements, making mini desserts with citrus fruits and making knitted jewelry will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” on Tuesday at noon and on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Michelle Robertson, a floral designer, will share some tips on making sure your beautiful arrangement stays that way for as long as possible. She is a former floral shop manager in Portales.

Eleisha Ensign will demonstrate some healthy, delicious mini desserts for kids as she focuses on the health benefits of eating grapefruit. She’ll also talk about nutrition, varieties, selection and storage of grapefruit. She’s from Mission, Texas.

Ava Green is a designer from Sevierville, Tennessee. She’s going to demonstrate how to make knitted jewelry, and she’ll show lots of beautiful pieces of jewelry she’s made.

• 5 cups chopped Rio Star Grapefruit sections, undrained

• 1 8 oz. pkg. vanilla instant pudding

• 2 cups thawed whipped topping

• 1 10-inch round angel food cake

• 1/2 Rio Star Grapefruit, sectioned

• 5 strawberries

Mix grapefruit sections and dry pudding mix in medium bowl. Gently stir in whipped topping. Cut cake horizontally into three layers. Place bottom cake layer, cut-side up, on serving plate. Top with one-third of the pudding mixture. Repeat layers two times. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Top with grapefruit sections and strawberries just before serving. Store leftovers in refrigerator.
