Mom: Noah's dog is home

CLOVIS — The Yorkie belonging to the child shot at the Clovis library on Aug. 28 is back home.

Denise Madrid said Lola was returned Sunday by a woman who said she found the dog on Echols Street, west of where she went missing on Thursday.

Madrid said the woman emailed her after reports of the missing dog were published on social media and on The Eastern New Mexico News' web site on Saturday night.

"All I had to give her was $100," Madrid said. "It made me sad that was one of the first things she asked when I called, but Noah is so happy. Lola is his comfort and best friend. My kids and I are forever grateful."

Noah Molina, 10, was one of six people shot in the Clovis-Carver Public Library on Aug. 28. Two were killed in the violence, for which a 16-year-old high school student has been charged. Noah has been recovering at home since his release from a Lubbock hospital early this month.

Madrid said the dog likely escaped from their house while she and her children were rushing out the door Thursday on their way to a doctor's appointment.

She said Lola joined their family when she was 3 months old and has been with them for more than five years.
