Nieka Style: Let the fall fashion begin

September 3, 2017

We are just about two weeks away from autumn equinox on Sept. 22 and summer will officially be over.

Although you may have some warm days left to wear your summer favorites, it’s time start switching it up for fall.

Better yet, it’s time to start weeding out and re-inventing some old pieces to mix with the new.

Some trends you may want to pull inspiration from starts with your schoolgirl pieces. Plaid pants, bow blouses and edgy jackets are all trending for fall.

Also, an embellished leather shoe like brogues are popular to pair with your plaid. Complete your look with your favorite satchel bag and wool beret.

Velvets are still on trend too. Whether they’re velvet pants, handbags, heels, printed skirts or tops, you can’t go wrong with velvet this season.

Now, let’s talk about your favorite leopard print. It’s time to bring that back. Shoes, purses, belts and jackets are not exempt; that’s what you’ll be mixing and matching with your look this fall.

Did you once stop wearing your faux leopard jacket that you purchased seven years ago? Well, now’s the time to wear it again.

Another popular trend is the pantsuit. What’s better than a structured suit? Pair it with a feminine blouse and — voila — this look is sharp and no one would argue with how “boss” you’d look in these pieces.

If pants aren’t your thing, try mixing your suit jacket with a pencil skirt. A trend that’s worth some effort is folkloric.

The mixing of patterns with furs are popular right now. Designs for Gucci for fall have great examples of this trend.

Try on a peasant dress with a pair of furry clogs. Top it off with big gold plated rings for fun and an embroidered purse.

Last but not least on fall trends can be described as English country with your favorite pair of riding boots but not with tights this time. Pair them with a floral blouse, a fun flowing skirt and a long cardigan sweater for the cooler days.
