Information on a new vacuum cleaning system and cooking with Freekeh will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” on Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. and on Thursday at noon. (All times are Mountain.)

Toufic Khayrallah is going to demonstrate how the Sirena vacuum system uses water as a filter medium to collect and remove all debris forever from the home. No messy bags to deal with either. He is the CEO of Sirena, Inc. in Ottawa, Canada.

Bonnie Matthews is the co-founder of Freekeh Foods, and she says parents love Freekeh because it provides children with essential nutrients, and kids love the name as well as the flavor. She’ll demonstrate several ways to incorporate Freekeh grains into other recipes. Freekeh is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Information on paper foundation piecing, making fabric covered jewelry and preparing a variety of salads will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” on Tuesday at noon and on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Author and quilter Norah McMeeking will discuss and demonstrate paper foundation piecing for patchwork quilts. This method is extremely accurate and keeps oddly shaped patches from being distorted during sewing. Her book is titled Bella Bella Quilts, and she lives in Santa Barbara, California.

Author and designer Laura West Kong will show how to use fusible machine appliqué and hot-fix crystals to make fabric covered button jewelry. She’ll also show some jewelry made with different finished buttons. Her book is titled Fast Fun and Easy Fabric Cover-Button Jewelry and she’s from Loma Linda, California.

Connie Moyers represents Western Research Kitchens, and she will demonstrate making numerous salads just by changing the ingredients. She’ll also share a way to encourage children to eat their veggies by adding crunchy croutons to a salad or using them as a snack food. Moyers is from Clovis.

Warm breakfast freekeh

• 1 8-ounce package cracked freekeh (1 cup) (Original variety)

• 2 1/2 cups water (for richer flavor, try cooking in almond milk, or coconut milk)

• 2 tsp. vanilla extract

• 1 tsp. cinnamon

• 2 Tbsp. vegan spread or butter

Pour freekeh and liquid into a saucepan and bring to a boil for about 1 minute. Add vanilla extract, cinnamon and vegan spread or butter. Reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for about 25 minutes. Serve with fresh sliced fruit and top with nuts. Serves: 4. Options: You can also add a dollop of yogurt for extra protein and creaminess.
