Texico High grad gets scholarships
STILLWATER, Okla. — A Texico High School graduate was presented with a pair of agriculture scholarships worth $1,500, according to a release from Oklahoma State University.
Sabra Barnett, now a senior at OSU, received a $1,000 Advance Food Company Endowed Scholarship and a $500 Joseph Fleming Memorial Continuing Scholarship. She is studying food science and serves on the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Student Council and the Oklahoma Collegiate Cattlewomen.
She was among nearly 200 students presented more than $300,000 in scholarships and awards at the CASNR’s scholarships and awards banquet.
Former Melrose student makes roll
CORVALLIS, Ore. — A former Melrose student was named the Oregon State University’s scholastic honor roll winter term, according to a release from the college.
Janine Romero, a senior majoring in liberal studies, carried a 4.0 grade point average during the winter term.
She was one of 1,241 students at the college to earn a 4.0 GPA. Another 4,481 students earned a 3.5 GPA or better. For consideration on the honor roll, students must carry at least 12 graded hours of course work.
Six students from New Mexico schools were named on the honor roll.
Clovis schools to host job fair
CLOVIS — Clovis Municipal Schools will host a job fair 9 a.m.-noon April 29 at the CMS administration building at 1009 Main, according to a release from the district.
The job fair covers numerous teaching and non-teaching positions in the district, and candidates are asked to bring their resume and transcripts. On-site interviews will be conducted and chosen applicants will receive letters of intent.

ENMU hosting veterans event
PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University is hosting a Veteran Resource Event 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday in the Campus Union Ballroom.
More than 45 agencies will be available to discuss health benefits, VA home loans, education benefits, finding employment, pensions for wartime veterans, how to overcome the struggle for them to fit back into their community and veterans groups.
All veterans and interested parties are welcome to attend.
