Club notes - April 16

Portales Womans Club

Portales Womans Club met on April 12 with President, Cami Howl presiding. Gertie Swager gave the invocation, the pledges and collect were led by Wanda Pettus and the meeting was called to order. There were 19 members and three guests present. The treasurer’s report was filed for audit, and the minutes were approved.

The program was provided by Curt Jaynes, GardenSource Nursery & Landscaping, who talked about perennials and annuals that work well in this area.

Gloria Waggoner was elected as a delegate to the upcoming State Convention. Doncella Caywood will be the alternate.

New officers for 2017-2018 were elected: President Cami Howl, First Vice President Amber Hamilton, Second Vice Presidents Jan Smartnick and Wanda Pettus, Third Vice Presidents Esther Bargas and Betsy Chavez, Recording Secretary Gloria Waggoner, Corresponding Secretary Cindy Miller and Treasurer Jessica Camacho. Officers will be installed in May.

The next meeting will be on May 10 at 8:30 a.m. and the club will recess for the summer. Guests are always welcome.
