Our People: Keeping time for music

Gary London was raised in a big church in Odessa. His mother was deeply involved with the music program at the family church and London followed suit at an early age. He said his mother started teaching him the guitar when he was 10 years old. By the time he reached age 14, he began playing the bass at church.

London entered college on Sept. 11, 2001, and just over a year later he was married and on his way to basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Ten years later and a couple of trips around the world, he ended up stationed at Cannon Air Force Base.

Today, London works as a contractor. He said his job entails a lot of what he is already familiar with. "I work with a great group of guys, fueling the same mission as I did while enlisted," he said.

On his downtime, he still plays music as often as he can. He is the bass player in the local band Mitch Gray and the Music Militia.
