Police warn of scam calls

PORTALES — According to Portales Police Department officials, someone has been calling Portales residents claiming to be from the Portales Fire Department, asking for donations to the department.

Detective Charlie Smart said for area residents to be aware that no city of Portales department will solicit residents individually for money over the phone or in person.
